You were not meant to walk through loss alone.

About Us

Surviving From Loss is a Christ-centered nonprofit ministry serving widows and widowers as they navigate life after the death of a spouse. Founded by Charles Foster after the loss of his beloved wife, this ministry was born from personal grief and has grown into a compassionate community of hope, healing, and support.

We understand that losing a spouse is one of life’s most devastating experiences. The silence, loneliness, emotional weight, and disorientation can feel overwhelming. Life continues around you, but grief can make it feel as though time has stopped. Surviving From Loss exists to walk alongside the widowed with compassion, understanding, and practical care.

While no one can replace the one who has been lost, no widow or widower should have to face that loss alone. Through connection, encouragement, prayer, grief support, meaningful activities, and practical help, we seek to remind every person we serve that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

As a Christ-centered ministry, we desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We offer comfort to the brokenhearted, friendship to the lonely, and support to those learning to live in a world that has changed. Our care reaches beyond words. Whether through a listening ear, a shared meal, a class, a card, a visit, a small act of service, or help with a practical need, we minister to the whole person—heart, soul, and body.

Surviving From Loss serves both widows and widowers, recognizing that every grief journey is personal. Each story matters. Each loss is unique. Each person deserves care that is patient, gentle, and respectful of where they are in the process.

We also believe healing often begins as people find ways to serve again. Through opportunities to encourage and help others, the widowed can rediscover purpose, rebuild confidence, and experience the blessing of giving and receiving care within a loving community.

Surviving From Loss is more than a support group. It is a family, a refuge, and a beacon of light in the darkness of grief. We are here to help widows and widowers take the next step forward with hope, faith, and support.

You are not alone. We are here for the journey, for the healing, and for the hope that lies ahead—one step at a time.
