The Surviving Spouse Club
The Surviving Spouse Club offers encouragement, understanding, and hope to widows and widowers grieving the loss of a spouse.
The word club is used because when someone loses their husband or wife, they become part of a group they never asked to join. Life changes in ways they could not have imagined. Friendships may remain, but relationships often feel different. The familiar rhythm of life is interrupted, and what once felt normal no longer feels the same.
Everyone grieves in their own way and in their own time. After the loss of a spouse, grief can affect nearly every part of life: time, relationships, memory, reasoning, perception, focus, confidence, and daily routines. Along with the sorrow often come fear, loneliness, exhaustion, and uncertainty about what to do next.
Grief is real. It is not a weakness, and it is not something to be rushed. It is the heart’s response to deep love and deep loss. In many ways, grief is love searching for a place to go.
This book offers practical tools, gentle guidance, step-by-step encouragement, and helpful cautions for the journey ahead. It was written to help widows and widowers understand what they are experiencing, take one step at a time, and find hope as they begin learning how to live after loss.
The Surviving Spouse Club Resource Guide and Workbook
The Surviving Spouse Club Resource Guide & Workbook
Have you ever thought about what you would do if you lost your spouse?
Would your world feel turned upside down?
Would you feel lost, lonely, confused, or afraid?
Would you wonder how to keep going?
Would you feel as though half of your life was suddenly missing, while the world around you expected you to move on?
The answers often seem easy to people who have not walked in your shoes. The loss of a spouse is unlike any other loss. Everyone grieves differently, but many widows and widowers face similar struggles: fear, confusion, loneliness, unfinished responsibilities, and the overwhelming question of what to do next.
The Surviving Spouse Club Resource Guide & Workbook was created to help surviving spouses face those difficult days with more clarity, confidence, and support.
Widower Charles Foster understands this need firsthand. When his wife died, he discovered that much of the information she carried for their family was no longer easily available. He was left with two children, a business, household responsibilities, and many decisions to make while grieving the loss of his wife. His grief became even more complicated because he had to search for answers during one of the most painful seasons of his life.
Nothing creates fear quite like the unknown. When important information is missing, insecurity rises. Decisions become harder. The needed answers may exist somewhere, but finding them after a loss can be stressful, costly, and exhausting.
This 8.5 x 11 resource guide and workbook was designed to help reduce that confusion. It provides practical tools, important information prompts, step-by-step guidance, and helpful reminders to assist surviving spouses as they continue forward after loss.
For married couples, this workbook can also be used before a loss occurs. Working through it together can strengthen communication, build trust, reduce future uncertainty, and provide peace of mind. Preparing ahead is not about fear; it is an act of love.
The main purpose of this workbook is to help a surviving spouse cope with loss while having access to the information needed to continue life. It cannot remove the pain of grief, but it can help reduce confusion, ease fear, and provide a practical path forward.
You were not meant to walk through grief alone.
